Role
By the late 1990s, Liebherr was already offering broad variation for the majority of its construction machines. As an example, customers could individually configure hydraulic excavators from a range of separate components. This was well received by users across the globe – however, with each new variant, the requirement for technical knowledge on the part of sales staff increased. To support sales personnel in this complex task, Liebherr implemented camos software.
Result
Liebherr sales staff have been using camos software for configuration and quotation generation since 1998; and the speed and quality of quotes have constantly improved ever since. As a result of changes in general framework conditions over the years, in 2006 the camos CPQ solution was introduced. Sales staff consequently have even greater freedom – but are nonetheless systematically guided through the sales process. An additional benefit is that the Liebherr IT department makes intensive use of the CPQ solution's development environment. For one thing, the department has expanded the CPQ solution with new functions. Liebherr IT also uses the development environment to create business applications for other areas – CRM, product management and work planning systems, for example.
