For over 30 years, maxon motor has been providing its customers with high-precision electric motors and commensurate components within modular systems – and with great success. One prominent example being the NASA Rover, which advances across Mars thanks to micro motors from maxon motor. To reduce the time between configuration and delivery even further – to a maximum of eleven working days – the Swiss company implemented the camos CPQ solution. An additional aim was to enable the customer to independently configure its drive units using an online configurator.
Nowadays, on the maxon motor website customers are presented with a configurator that is coordinated to the needs of various user groups that range from CEOs to engineers and students. They can easily configure the electric drive units according to individual needs – and are optimally supported by the software throughout. The maxon motor sales staff also use the online configurator and have a number of extra features available to them. Once an order is placed, the CPQ solution controls the downstream processes within the commercial environment and on the shop floor. This has speeded up the process considerably and the eleven day target has been achieved.
