HOMAG: Configurator reduces processing time by 80 per cent

Company

  • Portfolio: machinery and systems for the wood processing and furniture industry
  • Turnover: approximately EUR 1.08 billion (2016)
  • Employees: 6,126 (2016)
  • Location: Schopfloch (headquarters)
  • Internet: www.homag.com

Role

HOMAG Holzbearbeitungssysteme GmbH produces sawing, drilling, milling, sanding and format processing machines and systems worldwide for the wood processing and furniture industry. The company has carved out an estimable world market share of 30 per cent to date, with HOMAG regularly receiving customer orders involving diverse product variations. To keep lead times to a minimum and offer customers comprehensive product diversity, the company has introduced the camos CPQ solution.

Result

The camos product configurator transforms customer orders directly into production orders. Meanwhile the number of product variations is practically unlimited. Complex orders can now be configured within minutes, while order processing times in the sales and technical departments have been significantly reduced. Construction lead times have also been shortened. An additional benefit is that sources of errors within quotation and order generation have been successfully identified and considerably minimised with the aid of the system, in turn reducing quality costs stemming from sales.
