Modelling made easy with camos Develop

Take your product knowledge simply and reliably to where it will develop its greatest value: the customer. Throughout the entire lifecycle!

A lot has to be accomplished before a member of the sales team can configure the perfect product for the customer with the aid of a CPQ solution. The comprehensive knowledge of complex and modular products must first be detailed, with product structures defined, components and features specified and configuration rules formulated.

Achieving all this is not only critical for success, but is also an enormously challenging task. And it never ends – as ultimately companies constantly further develop existing products and continually pursue new innovations. Ensuring that new developments can be quickly offered to customers by sales requires expeditious mapping of the respective product models within the configurator.

camos Develop is the customised all-in-one tool for the camos CPQ solution. All the requisite functions are provided via a user-friendly interface: from product model development, adaptation and expansion of the CPQ software through to application lifecycle management.

From development to operation – seamless solutions

camos Develop is the object-based modelling environment from camos CPQ and helps staff responsible for modelling to develop and continually maintain product and dependency knowledge. Programming knowledge is not necessary given that even highly complex dependencies can be mapped and further developed via a diagrammatic interface.

Relationships between product components and product features are specified with the aid of structures, constraints, rules and decision tables. Evaluations within the rules enable recommendations for specific selections to be assigned within the configurator. Several staff are able to work together efficiently on comprehensive product models in order to rapidly achieve a final position.

The really clever aspect of modelling with camos Develop is that knowledge-based elements are stored in an object-oriented class system. This enables application of the principle of inheritance for features, rules and all other items, thereby reducing and simplifying even highly complex knowledge bases – in turn making maintenance and expansion altogether easier.

A library concept and the option of dynamically downloading knowledge bases during runtime facilitate the modular development of product knowledge bases. As a result, commensurate development, testing and distribution can be carried out independently of each other.

As an element of camos Develop, camos UI Designer enables user interfaces to be quickly developed for the product configurator without any prior programming knowledge. The UI design is completely independent of the knowledge bases and is determined in accordance with company-specific design parameters. As a result, modellers are able to meet each and every requirement to produce the perfect user experience. A further advantage is that the modeller can also create interfaces for different end devices or user groups. A responsive design is already supported as standard.

camos Translate: CPQ solution for international application

camos Translate supports the translation of texts in any given language used in user interfaces and respective results. As such, all terms and text passages are exported and can be translated independently of the application. The fact that camos CPQ is based on Unicode means all standard alphabets can be displayed. Accordingly, camos Translate simplifies the international use of the CPQ solution, which is of considerable benefit in particular for companies with globally spread sales organisations:

  • Translation of user interfaces and results text in any given language
  • Automatic selection from the knowledge base of all terms and phrases to be translated
  • Presentation of all phrases requiring translation in clear tables
  • Translations independent of knowledge base maintenance
  • Parallel processing by multiple translators at different locations
  • Control over text passages not yet translated
  • Automatic assumption of frequently used phrases from dictionaries

Using camos Document Designer, modellers can determine the content and design of quotation documents by applying design elements previously created within the scope of the corporate design, which are presented within Document Designer. Documents are created via the user interface. The results are quotation documents that are optimally coordinated for your company and in terms of content perfectly specify the previously configured solutions.

Product model development, specification of product knowledge and mask definition do not require any prior programming knowledge. Yet that is not all camos Develop can do: the existing CPQ functionality can be adapted and functionally expanded within the same tool. To this end, camos Develop has an independent fully integrated high-level programming language that is optimised for the purpose of programming configuration application expansions with unrivalled efficiency. Its performance is evidenced not least by the fact that all products developed by camos, including camos Develop itself, are programmed using camos Develop.

Once modelling has been concluded and approved, the new product knowledge base complete with user interface in the corporate design for all defined terminal devices and the appropriate quotation layout within the CPQ solution is available to sales. All releases are transparently administrated in camos Develop, with project and version management of knowledge bases integrated directly. All changes within a knowledge base are documented within a ticket system and therefore provide the basis for long-term maintenance and further development of the knowledge bases.
