Energy Management High Voltage Products (E M HP) business unit introduces camos Configurator
To continue to meet global market requirements, the Energy Management High Voltage Products (E M HP) business unit at Siemens AG has introduced a configuration solution developed by Stuttgart-based camos Software und Beratung GmbH.
The Siemens AG Energy Management High Voltage Products (E M HP) business unit develops, produces and markets circuit breakers, disconnectors and earthing switches, hybrid switching devices, transformers, coils products and bushings. These products serve to form the link between power generation and power distribution. Under the management of the Berlin plant, the business unit itself operates worldwide via a global sales and manufacturing network.
Previously, the business unit worked with numerous internally developed configurators that are embedded in SAP. The aim was to use the new solution to create greater flexibility and productivity in terms of sales and remedy weaknesses in the existing configurators. For example, configurator data maintenance can now be carried out by a number of employees simultaneously, with all employees able to independently make changes to the user interface. Furthermore, as a result of the shared product knowledge bases, products can be released independent of each other. Enhancements and changes to the configuration models can consequently be productively used much faster for preparing an offer.
The existing configuration solution ‘SAP CASH’ (Computer Aided Selling High Voltage) is now being progressively replaced by the new camos configuration solution (camos Develop, camos Configurator): new products are immediately configured with the camos solution, while older products are being progressively transferred to the new system.
The configurator features numerous new functions:
