The globally active company Festo deploys camos solutions for product configuration around the world. In future, this will provide more than 300,000 customers with the opportunity to assemble their products themselves, via WebShop or DVD.
In signing up Festo, the worldwide market leader in automation technology, camos Software und Beratung GmbH has won yet another internationally significant customer. The company employs 12,800 co-workers around the globe and has annual revenues of approximately EUR 1.65 bil. through its business activities in 176 different countries. Festo has supplanted its former configuration systems with those of camos, thereby creating not only a single uniform platform for the assembly of all its products, but also a platform for the configuration of solutions medium term. “The configurator gives both our sales engineers and our customers around the world the possibility to select quickly, easily and securely their own custom designed solutions for industrial automation, both online and offline,” says Jürgen Schiefer, Director of IS Technology Management. “It is our objective to standardise already existing solutions on one single platform which will then make a solution portfolio uniformly available worldwide. That way, our customers’ continuous, universal operations are ensured and maintenance expenses are reduced.”
By 2009, the data for several hundred Festo products will be migrated into the new system. The solution will be integrated into the already existing SAP landscape in order to utilize the SAP relationships and connections. Equipped with a great number of customer and country versions in 26 languages, the configuration solution is available all over the world and is simple to install.
