The company
For 125 years Schenck RoTec has manufactured custom designed balancing and diagnosis technology for a variety of sectors such as the automobile and electrical industries, aircraft and spacecraft, turbo machinery and machine manufacture. The company has more than 1,000 employees, maintains more than 40 representations all over the world and has manufacturing facilities in Germany, China, India, Japan and the U.S. The concern had revenues of about 200 mil. Euro last year. Schenck RoTec GmbH in Darmstadt is market leader in the industrial sectors of wheel balancing and diagnosis technology and coordinates the activities of all its subsidiaries and joint ventures throughout the world.
The camos project
Schenck RoTec utilizes the product configurator camos Configurator for its manufacture of “universal wheel balancing machines”, “vertical balancing machines” and “balancing machines for airplanes and spacecraft”. Equipped with English and German interfaces, the solutions can be applied and used internationally. Price quotations are now generated by the various Schenck subsidiaries in French, Italian, Spanish and Dutch.
Reaction time for an inquiry has been reduced from one week down to an average of two days.
Besides that, the software project has contributed to tightening the product spectrum, as well as standardising it. Organisational changes and a reduced overall amount of variations have had the effect of lowering costs.
