The company
Founded in 1961, MULTIVAC Sepp Haggenmüller GmbH & Co. KG today has more than 3,000 employees all over the world, 1,300 alone at its Bavarian headquarters in Wolfertschwenden. The vast product portfolio of the global market leader for deep drawing packaging machinery comprises fully automated plug-and-ring-forming packaging machines, tray sealers, ribbon machines, automatic handling modules and vacuum chamber machines, as well as labelling machines and accessories. In addition to that, the company offers a wide variety of consulting and varied services, ranging from packaging processes all the way to packaging design. With more than sixty company subsidiaries and sales branches on all five continents, the manufacturing and mechanical engineering concern is active in markets around the world in more than 140 different countries.
The camos project
MULTIVAC uses the product configurator camos Configurator for its product lines “Deep drawing packaging machines”, “Tray sealers”, “Ribbon machines”, “Automatic handling equipment” and “Vacuum chamber machines” as well as for “Labelling machines” and “Accessories”. More than 400 sales personnel around the world utilise this configurator to quickly and technically precisely configure a product, then generate a price quotation or compile a sales contract.
Whereas it used to take several hours before a quotation for a complex machine including sketches and design plans left the company, today maximum thirty minutes is required.
However, not only price quotations for new, modular products are configured with the help of this software; subsequent supply and delivery as well as special solutions are also generated. The multilingual software is specially designed for MULTIVAC’s expansionist strategy. The layout of the quotation can be adapted to each individual country, as can the price calculations, including - via online operations - daily changing prices, and current, updated specifications.
