The company
Demag Cranes is one of the world’s leading providers of industrial cranes and crane components, port cranes and a variety of technologies for port automation. Services, particularly maintenance and modernisation, are an additional core element of their spectrum of offerings. The activities of Demag Cranes are organised in divisons of industrial cranes, port technology and services. The concern has strong brand names, including Demag and Gottwald; through its lead in innovation and technology, as well as outstanding product and service quality, it has established itself as an international market leader and at the same time built up and secured close and ongoing customer relationships. Demag Cranes manufactures in 16 countries on five continents and through its subsidiaries, representations and a joint venture, operates one of the largest and most extensive sales and service networks in the branch. The concern is present in more than 60 countries and serves customers in more than 100 different nations. The company has the largest base installation in the entire world, including more than 650,000 Demag brand cranes and hoisting devices.
The camos project
They can do anything and their deployment is unbelievably simple: that is the overriding objective of many industrial systems manufacturers. To come as close as possible to achieving that goal, Demag Cranes has introduced a central product configurator. With it, the sales force can provide precise technical display, structural analysis and implementation of customer wishes right on the spot. At the same time, the role of product management has been boosted.
Once the system has been unrolled worldwide, approximately 2,500 employees in the sales, service and engineering sectors, as well as those in more far reaching departments, will be working with it. Added to that will be approximately 40 business partners, to whom Demag Cranes is making the Designer available. They can incorporate the Designer into their own websites, including independent enhancements such as user administration, prices, delivery times, texts and varying languages. Through simple steps, it can be connected to the ERP systems which are utilised.
